RUGIPO Students seize SARS van for chasing vehicle into their campus premises

Students Of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo grounded some men of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSAS) after the policeman chased  a vehicle into that school premises.

The SARS officials had been involved in a car chase with a vehicle which they believed was driven by an internet fraudster. The chase led them into the vicinity of the school and students reacted by standing in support of the purported yahoo boy by seizing the vehicle of the SARS officers. The SARS officials have been arrested after the school authority made calls to the commissioner of police in the state.

The press council of the institution disclosed that the SUG President of the institution trailed the FSARS van as they embarked on the hot chase before they made their way into the institution

It was early week of July, 2018 when Ogunmola Oluwaseun finalist of accountancy department HND2 of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo was persuaded till point of accident by an unidentified SARS that zoomed off after the brutal accident, the victim later died in the process on July 22nd, 2018 at Federal Medical Center, Owo.

The replica of the same incident occurred today 14th of May, 2019 as the Federal- Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) pursued a student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo named Austin Chibuzor Kelvin from department of Mass Communication HND1.

While speaking with the victim, he made this known that, he was heading to his friend’s house in preparation for afternoon class when a man in black dress with AK-47 asked him to get down for an unspecified offense which he refused, “I later discovered through side mirror that there’s a Hillux-vehicle approaching full with hefty men holding AK-47, then I took off while they followed me down to the school with hot chased and they damaged my car with their vehicle while trying to stop me in motion”… He said.

However, he pressed further that, a week this same FSARS removed his car plate number number for an unspecified allegations, and they demanded for huge amount of #10,000 which he paid before it was released to him.

Comrade Akeju Blessing, the incumbent SUG President of the school who is spokesman for the students made it known to our correspondence that he was personally following the hillux taken by the Federal SARS after he noticed the hot chased, “I was awestruck seeing SARS in such unscrupulous manner of driving, I decided to follow them with a motorcycle.” He said.

Thereto, Students candidly frown with this act and seek for immediate jungle justice but with the help of the school security and the stakeholders of the Students Union Government, their stormy grievance was calmed and the SARS officers were taken to the school security unit for lawful investigation, the incumbent SUG president assured his fellow students of legal justice while advice them to pursue peace amidst the citadel of learning.

Till this report is compiled, nothing has been heard from the security unit.
